Sin, forgiveness and salvation
7 March 2025
Sin, forgiveness and salvation are huge topics for Christians - so we want our children and teens to understand them well. Here are some ideas to help you coach your kids in these big ideas.
Sin and forgiveness
Many children think that sin is just about right and wrong and saying sorry. But it’s more than that.
- In this post Rachel Turner suggests a way to explain sin to children that helps them understand God as a loving parent who, far from condemning us, wants to offer us freedom from sin and a fresh start.
- Rachel expands on how to talk about sin, shame and guilt on this Facebook Live, for under fives, primary aged children and teens.
- A dad shares what being real with God and real with each other looks like in his family
In one episode of the Parenting for Faith podcast, we tackle a question on how to talk to a child about their lying:
And in another Karen Allen talks about how we can persevere through our mistakes, flaws and failings – messing up, but not giving up.

Salvation

- In another episode, Rachel talks about helping our children and teens meet and know God in the ups and downs of our normal family circumstances
- And in one of our Lent family devotionals, we explore more about the idea of salvation.
