Conversational prayer – chat and catch
At Parenting for Faith we encourage parents and carers to introduce prayer to their children as ‘chat and catch’ which is best described as an informal, one to one conversation with God.
Here are a couple of examples from parents and carers about how chat and catch has impacted their children:
- Sarah explaining how chat and catch helped her daughter understand her feelings;
- Ruth recalling how chat and catch at bedtime impacted her son.
‘Chat and catch’ is one of our five key tools and you can see more about it here.
You can also watch sessions from our courses which teach chat and catch:
- Sessions 4 and 5 of the original course
- Session 3 of our teens course
- Session 3 of our bite-sized babies and toddlers course
We know that every child or young person can chat and catch with the God who knows them:
- If your child or teen has additional needs, see our FAQs
- If you have a baby or toddler, see our U5s and prayer post
- For help if a child or teen is finding chat and catch hard see this post.
And to help you think through how to help your child or teen discern if what they’ve caught is from God, see this post here.
