Navigating divorce or separation as Christian parents
Going through divorce or separation is hard for anyone, but for Christians it can feel like an extra challenge, as they wonder how their church will respond, and how their children's faith might be impacted.
For an episode of the Parenting for Faith podcast, Lucy chatted to Erik Castenskiold, who has led Restored Lives for over 20 years. Restored Lives is a Christian charity set up to help people recover from relationship breakdown and reduce the negative effects of divorce/separation on individuals.
Erik shared honestly about the impact of divorce on children and teenagers, how we can navigate them through tricky times in our relationships, as well as the hope and encouragement of how we can point our kids to Jesus, even in dark times.
Erik has personal experience of divorce, and is now happily married with three young adult children, based in London. He worships at Holy Trinity Brompton where he is on the PCC. Erik is a Chartered Accountant by profession, having worked for several big-name companies including Deloitte, but has also been running Restored Lives since 2021, a charity that has helped thousands of people find hope after divorce.
